Carnival, Photography Challenge & Thursday Throwback
Updated: Apr 5, 2019
Carnival is here!
A fabulous day spent in Old Town Las Palmas - the Spanish really know how to party! Here are my best picks and pics :-D
Sit back, relax, press play and get transported to España...
What a celebration! I was in two minds whether to take my camera out to play. Alcohol and cameras don't usually mix, thank goodness there were no accidents and I made it home with my equipment intact.
I have wanted to get up-close and personal with my photography for a while. With crowds of people at every turn is was the perfect opportunity to experiment with angles and framing shots in a variety of ways. Everyone was in such great spirits wanting to show off their outfits which made photographing the event so much fun. I'm all about the fun!
Next up, more about the photography challenge that I mentioned in my last update...
March Throwback - well it is Thursday after all
This time two years ago Jim and I said goodbye to Western Australia and said hello to nomadic living. Our first stop was 'The Long White Cloud'. We travelled from snowy Niseko in the north of Japan down to blossoming Kyoto on the main island of Honshu. Those six weeks inspired a deep exploration into Japanese culture, landscape and the importance of colour in their traditional kimono design.
The 4 part 'Bamboo' series (shown above) was created on hand-made washi paper and inspired by the peach and khaki green colour combinations used in the seasonal kimono design of March.
A lot has happened in the two years since sitting on that floor contemplating composition, lots of learning, travelling and developing my art practice. May that continue!
I hope you have enjoyed todays update. I'll catch you in a couple of weeks with lots of photography AND some collaboration news, ooow exciting!
Enjoy the rest of your day.
